Hello, world.

I'm Jack Edelist.

Student of Computer Engineering & Machine Learning Student-Athlete, Guitarist, DJ Junior Developer

More About Me
About Me

Let me introduce myself.

Profile Picture

I'm a rising Senior at Boston University studying computer engineering with a concentration in machine learning. I grew up in Hong Kong and now live in Toronto, Canada, after attending boarding school for four years. I'm a student-athlete on the BU Men's Rugby Team, the lead guitarist for the BU Pep Band, a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and a professional DJ.

Previously, I've loved working with children, teaching them guitar and coaching them in hockey. Now, I'm focusing on exploring projects in my free time, working at my internships, and enjoying the thrill of college. For fun, I love sports – hockey, football, rugby, snowboarding – and playing guitar and DJing at bars and clubs.

Currently, I work as an undergraduate intern for the Bio Optical & Acoustic Spectroscopy (BOAS) Lab, where I work to manufacture NinjaNIRS2021 wearable helmet device optodes using Functional Near-Infrared Resonance Spectroscopy (fNIRS), as well as design a unique convolutional neural network U-NET architecture to detect stalling in brain capillaries. My personal interests are in deep learning, quantum mechanics, and fNIRS. Last summer, I interned at General Motors in Pontiac, MI, working on their hydrogen fuel cell technology, HydroTec. I particularly enjoyed testing CAN messages on embedded controllers using hardware-in-the-loop simulators, and writing a new Simulink software to simulate a dual fuel cell configuration. This summer, I'm looking forward to continuing my exciting research with the BOAS lab, continuing the work on our model for detecting brain capillary stalls.

After my Senior year, I hope to join the workforce as a machine learning engineer. Please feel free to reach out to discuss anything from projects to hobbies!

Interests

I am interested in AI/ML in new technologies; more specifically, my interests lie in deep learning, quantum mechanics, and fNIRS.
